A Big Day Remembered

A big day that I will always remember is seeing my son for the first time. It's hard to believe these last 4 years have flown by but I've enjoyed every moment of it. I will never forget the first time I saw him. I missed his birth because I was training at Fort Leonard Wood Missouri, but came home a month later. The very first time I saw him; I felt a feeling I have never felt till this day. I immediately felt unconditional love for this being I have never seen in my life and knew right then I would do anything in this world for him. I've enjoyed watching my son grow up over the years and can honestly say he is my greatest achievement. Above being a son, brother, friend, and soldier, I take pride in being a father over anything else. My favorite part about being a father is raising my son to be better than I was and just having fun/being there for him. I want him to accomplish everything I didn't, do everything I couldn't, and just get the chance to see him become the man I know he will one day. I look forward to going to his games, teaching him life skills, and just bonding like a father and son is supposed to.

My Outlook for the New School Year

Well let's jump right into it y'all, this is my last semester here at SCSU and I'm ready to get it over with! My outlook on this upcoming year is optimistic, hopeful, and just focused on starting my military career. For starters, I had an amazing summer internship with my unit 1051 out of Beaufort SC. We are a transportation unit who and got tasked with transporting troops, supplies, and food for the entirety of our annual summer training. This year our training took place in Hattiesburg Mississippi, which is home to one of the biggest joint operations known as Camp Shelby. Click Here!

My time spent in Mississippi will never be forgotten for a number of reasons, the main one being the weather. You have one of two options daily, extreme blistering heat or an abrupt heavy downpour of rain, sometimes both which really sucks. Despite the weather, my second reason is I had a blast with my fellow soldiers and leadership all summer long. The comradery and bonding is second to none, from the time we convoyed from South Carolina to Mississippi we were having fun and making the most of our situation. I can't wait to graduate and go into the military full time; I think this is my calling fellas!
